Considering Purchasing a Registered Premises?
If you are buying an existing premises, whether a food premises or a hairdresser, beauty parlour, tattooist establishment, ear or body piercing establishment, or an accommodation premises, you will need to transfer the registration into your name. Application forms can be obtained by contacting Council's Environmental Health Unit on telephone 1300 88 22 33. A transfer fee is applicable.
If you are considering buying a registered premises you may wish to arrange for Council's Environmental Health Officers to inspect the premises and report to you on whether there are any orders or items that are required to be rectified. Any release of information is subject to the Privacy of Information Act.
The fee for such an inspection and report is $150.00 payable to Maroondah City Council. It is helpful if you advise us of the date that you are expecting to settle the purchase of the business. Council must have the permission of the current proprietor before it can release any information regarding that premises with a third party. A consent form must be completed and is available below.
Any new proprietor of a food premises is required to lodge a Food Safety Program with the transfer application. Templates for Food Safety Programs can be obtained through the Department of Human Services.
